The (possibly temporary) ban on TikTok is underway, with users of the social media app reporting that they cannot access the site at all. There is a 90-day respite that will presumably begin when Donald Trump takes office.
Personally, this writer has never used TikTok and has prohibited her children from downloading the app. The issue of Chinese data collection worries her less (because our data is probably everywhere anyway) than propaganda, which she believes is a psychological operation on the United States.
In the wake of the ban, there are reports that children and teens are calling 911 because TikTok is shutting down, which somewhat proves this writer’s point.
#RIP: Some 911 call centers in the United States have reportedly been receiving non-emergency calls from teens and children expressing their love for TikTok following its shutdown.

Don’t do this.
911 is only for legitimate emergencies.
Alright, I’m starting to think the TikTok ban was a good thing.
This is crazy.

This is how addicts act when they abstain.
It’s not healthy.
If Trump manages to save TikTok, it could be one of the biggest orange pills of all time for the next generation.

That’s one perspective.

This made us laugh.
As a young adult who loved Vine, I get it, but these kids need to calm down.

Ah, Vina.
The good old days.
That addiction is current https://t.co/fbc0m6r2wS

Yes it is.
society is broken
Tiktok shouldn’t be so obsessive. This is not right. It’s more about life than Tiktok and social media. Although this generation and the next will not know this. I hope they learn to socialize together. Otherwise, society is doomed. It also ruins intelligence. pic.twitter.com/nBYbtoGtjI

And the Chinese know it.
Cool. Arrest and fine them for 911 abuse so others learn to stop being delayed https://t.co/4pfKjDQXBf

Is.
This brainwashing will end up meaning that someone will not get the emergency help they need. https://t.co/fG6TWuTOja

That is why this needs to have consequences.
It seems like a good idea to ban an app that makes people behave this way. https://t.co/OhgGB3ZHse

Yes. In a way they are showing why a ban is necessary.
