MANILA, Philippines — Justine Jazareño enjoyed the best of both worlds: being a mother and a professional volleyball player.
After a year away, Jazareño returned with 10 excellent attacks, but Akari started the new year on the wrong foot with a tough 22-25, 16-25, 15-25 loss to PLDT at the PVL All-Filipino 2024- 25. Conference on Saturday at Philsports Area.

“Of course I was overwhelmed because I was away for almost a year. I’m changing again. About the process,” Jazareño said after his return.

In addition to juggling motherhood and volleyball, Jazareño is also working on her thesis as an Early Childhood Education student.

Studying, protecting Akari’s apartment, and taking care of her family are worth it for the young libero, as her son inspires her in everything she does.

“Siguro time management language. In the morning, Hanggang, in the afternoon, I train kami and then spend time with my baby, Rin Naman. Also, nagthe-thesis din ako, so I have to manage my time,” he said.

“I was more inspired. “After training you get home, you feel tired, but when you get home you are not tired.”

The former La Salle floor defender believes she still needs to work harder to regain her best form and also improve her communication as a team after Akari fell to a 3-4 record following a lopsided loss to PLDT.

“Maybe, knowing that we are athletes, we really need to be disciplined when it comes to eating, sleeping and training. I really worked very hard to return to sports,” said Jazareño.
“We have to work hard and we have to communicate. Nakalimutan lang din namin mag-enjoy sa sport kaya kinulang,” he added.
