Luke Littler has only been world champion for a few days, but he is already aiming for more titles in 2025, including becoming back-to-back Premier League champion.

Littler made history on Friday night at Alexandra Palace by becoming the youngest winner of the World Darts Championship at 17, surpassing his opponent Michael van Gerwen’s record of winning it at 24 against Peter Wright in 2014.

Before winning the biggest prize of all and fulfilling his destiny, Littler had an incredible first year as a professional, winning 10 titles, including the Premier League and his first Grand Slam of Darts main.

In the Premier League final against Luke Humphries in 2024, Littler threw nine darts and sent the crowd into a frenzy at the O2 Environment and is clear about his ambitions to keep that trophy in his cabinet by 2025.

Luke Littler beats Michael van Gerwen to claim the Sid Waddell trophy and win the World Darts Championship.

“Yeah, if I can go back, it would mean a lot,” Littler said.

“Before that (in 2024), I thought if I could be in the top four I would be happy, but obviously I finished first because of the way I played.

“But I will have the same mentality going into it: if you make the play-offs, that’s all that matters and give it your all at the O2.”

Luke Littler hits the bull for 70 to win the final stage of the World Darts Championship against Michael van Gerwen.

His nine-darter in the Premier League was one of four achieved by ‘The Nuke’ in 2024, equaling Gerwyn Worth’s nine-dart record in 2022 and he admits he would have loved to break that record at the World Cup.

However, Littler knows that time is on his side and if he can claim “11 or 12” titles in 2025, the world number one spot could quickly be in his sights.

Luke Littler reflected on his first World Darts Championship win and shared his aspirations to beat Phil Taylor’s record.

“I would have loved to throw nine darts at the World Championships and obviously try to finish 2024 with five nine darters, but it wouldn’t be that way, so obviously it’s another record that I can try to beat for years and years. “Littler added.

“When you play that well, you can feel the nine coming.

“Now I’m going to recharge my batteries and relax, but people will see that I will be hungry for more titles this year and I hope I can improve and win 11 or even 12 onwards.

Luke Littler said he would love to take the trophy to Outdated Trafford and was glad he beat Stephen Bunting in the semi-final – or he would have taken it to Anfield!

“Obviously if I can add some more money to the rankings, we all know how much Humphries is defending, it’s a lot of money.

“But another thing is that I can’t wait to play in the World Cup with him. Maybe at the end of 2025 I can see myself as number one.”
