Remember Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson Fast and Furious beef? It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about whether the two action stars are friends or enemies, but I definitely didn’t expect the 2025 Golden Globes to be the place for them to interact. At least I have the Web to validate myself after the awkward meeting they just had. (Check out our awards live blog if you haven’t seen it!)
It’s crazy to think that it was almost a decade ago when Dwayne Johnson spoke about his fast and furious co-stars on social networks thus starting the fight. Here’s what happened at Sunday’s awards ceremony:
Vin Diesel awkwardly said “hi, Dwayne” to The Rock the moment he approached the stage at the Golden Globes lol… pic.twitter.com/bOJQsMbJRZJanuary 6, 2025
Considering Vin Diesel hasn’t been in a movie all year, it was certainly a surprise to see him take the stage during the Golden Globes to present an award. The star took the stage later in the show to present the film and box office achievement award to Wicked cast, director and producers of the film. Since Dwayne Johnson was also present as a presenter and at the front, Diesel gave him a “Hello” when he took the stage, followed by a big smile.
It was a tense and fun moment, and I’m happy that there are reactions like this on the Web:
Are #vindiesel and #therock still angry? This was very awkward hahaha. #goldenballoons pic.twitter.com/NxhTtYuP5YJanuary 6, 2025
After the infamous slap at the Oscars a few years ago, it always seems like anything can happen when a group of celebrities get together, but this was of the “gentle and somewhat healthy” variety, given the lack of on-screen fireworks. . It was kind of sweet to see Vin Diesel acknowledge his longtime colleague, but like me, some fans are wondering if there was a hidden undercurrent behind that “Hey.”

The latest we hear about The Rock and Vin Diesel via the fast and furious The franchise was back in November, when Diesel shared a photo of him and The Rock from a previous entry in the franchise where he said he was looking forward to “a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood” as well as “getting back to real street racing” and “practical stunts.” . ” in the next installment.
Fast X: Part 2 It is currently scheduled for summer 2026 and is expected to be the closing of the franchise after 25 years. Considering The Rock was part of a mid-credits scene in X fastWe hope Luke Hobbs returns to action in the future.
It is not clear if that will be for the next Fast movie and/or the spin-off movie it previously announced in 2023. As far as we know, the movie hasn’t started filming yet, but we’d expect to learn more about it this year, as we imagine production would need to start sometime in 2025.
