“RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” Series 1 winner Vivienne has died at the age of 32, according to her friend and supervisor.
“It is with immense sadness that we inform you that our beloved James Lee Williams, The Vivienne, passed away this weekend,” publicist Simon Jones wrote on instagram on Sunday. “James was an incredibly loved, kind-hearted and amazing person.”
“His family is heartbroken over the loss of their son, brother and uncle. “They are very proud of the wonderful things James accomplished in his life and career,” he continued. “We will not give more details. “Please ask that James’ family be given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.”
In addition to winning the first season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK,” Vivienne was known in the United States for participating in season 7 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” which featured all the winners.
“These are words I never wanted to write. Viv was a close friend, a client and someone I loved very much. From the moment I met them in 2019, I knew we could create magic together and I became their supervisor. “Their talent was immense and the light they brought to every room was amazing,” Jones’ message continued. “No one has made me laugh as much in my life as Viv did. Her comedic genius and quick wit were like no other. “I am so proud and lucky that Viv has been such a big part of my life every day for the past five years.”
“It is tragic that his career is just beginning. In musical theater, Viv had found a space and career that they loved, excelled at, and thrived in,” he concluded. “I am heartbroken and devastated by this news. RIP my beautiful friend. “You left us too soon.”
In addition to “Drag Race,” Vivienne also starred in many other British television favorites, including “Dancing on Ice,” “Portrait Artist of the Year,” “Superstar Mastermind,” “Superstar Hunted,” “The Weakest Hyperlink,” and “The Nice British Stitching Bee”, just to name a few.
