The other day, we told you how Allstate decided it was a good idea to record and play a video with CEO Tom Wilson before the Sugar Bowl. In the video, he lectured us about “our addiction to negativity” and “accepting people’s differences.”
On a regular day, this would have been quite insulting. But this occurred right after 14 innocent Americans were killed in a terrorist attack. So it was a slap in the face for the victims and their families. The problem wasn’t that they didn’t “accept people’s differences” or that they were “(addicted) to negativity.”
They were murdered by a radical Islamic terrorist.
The reaction was well deserved, swift and seemingly so overwhelming. Allstate has now removed the message:
Allstate removes social media post of CEO’s controversial Sugar Bowl message amid backlash https://t.co/58WkM26Xxq

Allstate, the corporate sponsor of the Sugar bowl, appeared to delete a video message from CEO Tom Wilson from its social media after his comments following the terrorist attack on Bourbon Avenue in New Orleans sparked a massive backlash online.
In the message played to fans Thursday before the start of the School Soccer Playoff quarterfinal match between Georgia and OUR LADY, Wilson asserted that Americans should overcome an “addiction to division” and instead “accept people’s imperfections and differences.”
“On Wednesday, tragedy struck the New Orleans community. Our prayers are with the victims and their families. We also need to be stronger together by overcoming the addiction to division and negativity,” Wilson said in the video.
We wonder if people will leave Allstate for other insurance companies that don’t do something so tone-deaf.
Go awake, go broke.
When Democrats are in power, everyone is willing to send Republicans to prison.
Fast forward a few years
The Republicans take power and now that’s it, let’s all be friends.
Don’t fuck with that

Not only are they playing the ‘let’s be friends’ card, they’re also playing the ‘let’s imply that this terrorist attack is somehow your fault’ card.
It’s condescension.
It is evident that they do not understand how insurance or the Web work. @AllState It will soon be history. Bud Mild takes them to oblivion.

Yeah.
Speaking of not “reading the room,” ESPN’s decision to broadcast Allstate’s social media post instead of the National Anthem shows a complete lack of respect for our country.

For sure yes.
YOU KNOW they had an entire committee write down every syllable of his speech, AND they’re stumped as to what went wrong.

They live in such a woke bubble that they can’t imagine why it was so offensive to the vast majority of people.
How is it possible that the CEO of one of the largest companies in the United States, and EVERYONE AROUND HIM, have not realized that the world has taken a turn and left him lying there like Wile E. Coyote over the canyon? pic.twitter.com/Y47tqNpF9r

Because, as we said, they live in a bubble.
Like so many CEOs, this one apparently lacks tone. And, as other respondents below pointed out, ESPN is apparently run by a bunch of anti-American idiots for not showing the National Anthem and moment of silence. What a shame! https://t.co/ek3og1yCXA

They have no shame.
Allstate should lose billions of dollars over this. We don’t want this to wake up companies at all. https://t.co/qNsprg11Do

No, we don’t.
