Web sleuths revealed that while the third-round rookie is suspended from the Bengals, he is also facing eviction and a lawsuit from your landlord. Not only did Burton stay home, but his house doesn’t even want him there. That’s a tough pill to swallow for Burton, who has had an incredibly troubled start to his NFL career.

According to Hamilton County Clerk of Courts records, Radius Acquisition LLC filed an eviction case against Burton “and all occupants” of his apartment on Dec. 23. They also ask for $2,506.33. A hearing date has been set for January 24 to address the matter.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Radius Acquisition was seeking $10,000 “to compensate the plaintiff for damage to the premises beyond fair wear and tear.”

It seems like he might have trashed the apartment the Bengals put all their rookies in when they were drafted, but that’s just a theory. It’s unclear whether the Bengals’ eviction, lawsuit and suspension are related or not.

In November, Burton went viral due to a photo that appeared of him in an online casino after being benched for missing a team tour. In his defense, it’s easy to get caught up in Las Vegas when you’re 23 years old.

The Bengals selected Burton in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, making him the 80th player selected overall.

But the selection was not without many warning signs. After transferring from Georgia to Alabama, the Crimson Tide was defeated by Tennessee in 2022. At the end of that game, Volunteers fans stormed the field and Burton hit a woman who was celebrating in the head.

With uncertainty surrounding star receiver Tee Higgins’ future in Cincinnati, the Bengals likely expected Burton to be a younger, cheaper and more useful replacement considering his upside.

That didn’t work out as he had just four receptions for 107 yards in his rookie season. He’s caused more headaches than caught passes so far, and that’s not typically a recipe for a fruitful NFL career.
