The Prime Minister of Greenland, Múte Egede, recently declared his intentions for the future of the island and stated that it is “necessary” to take important steps towards independence from Denmark.
Egede’s comments, which follow a December 22 post in Fact Social by President-elect Donald Trump defending the “ownership and management” of Greenland, focused on the basis for Denmark’s secession.
“The next new electoral period must create, together with citizens, these new steps, based on the bases already created,” said Egede. “It is high time for us ourselves to step up and shape our future, also in terms of who we will cooperate closely with and who will be our business partners.”
