Thirteen people were arrested and ₹ 10 Lakh were seized during a raid in a gaming den in the city of Shahapur by a team of the Yadir Cena police station.
The raid attacked a house in a main town in the city of Shahapur. The team was led by the Nagaraj Police Deputy Superintendent of the CEN Police Station. While 13 people were arrested, three managed to escape from the scene. ₹ 10 Lakh was seized.
The operation was carried out under the supervision by the Superintendent of the Pruthvik Shankar Police.
Shahapur is the hometown of the district minister in charge Sharanabasappa Darshaanapur. What surprised many was the fact that the raid was carried out by a team from the district headquarters and not the Native Police.
The incident has raised a question about the ‘inaction’ by the Native Police. A Shahapur social activist said that unfortunate period that the game continues in Shahapur, the hometown of Mr. Darshanapur.
Police Superintendent, Pruthvik Shankar, said the Native Police had also carried out raids in such illegal activities in Taluk. “However, this was a big one. The CEN police have seized ₹ 10 Lakh of the place and registered a case against 17 people, ”he said.
