From the approachable Geordie accent to the instantly recognizable Liverpudlian twang, the UK is home to some of the most distinctive accents in the world.

Now, a study has revealed how much your accent conveys about you.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge played recordings of men with different British accents to people across the UK.

Participants were asked to rate the voices on 10 social traits such as friendliness, being friendly, honest and trustworthy.

They were also asked to rate the likelihood that the voices had performed 10 different behaviors, including crimes, cheating or dangerous driving.

The results will come as a relief to Cardiff residents, whose accent was rated as the friendliest and most friendly.

However, people in Liverpool will be saddened to learn that the Scouse accent was rated the most aggressive and the most likely to deceive a romantic partner.
