The 78-year-old Republican returned to the White House on Monday, January 20, 2025, after his second presidential inauguration, and had the support of his family at the event. But one key moment is making the rounds on social media: Trump’s swearing-in ceremony. Many wonder whether or not he put his hand on the Bible that his wife, Melania Trumpheld by him while taking the oath.
Trump gave a speech during his inauguration, promising to “put America first” and stating that the country is now in its “golden age.”
“Starting today, our country will flourish and be respected again around the world,” he said. “We will be the envy of all nations. And we won’t let them take advantage of us anymore. For every day of the Trump administration, I will, very simply, put America first. Our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our security will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The merciless, violent and unjust weaponization of the Department of Justice and our government will end.”
Trump also promised that his administration’s “top priority” will be creating a proud, prosperous and free nation.
“I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the beginning of a new and exciting period of national success,” he added. “A tide of change is sweeping the country. “Sunlight is falling on the entire world and America has the opportunity to seize this opportunity like never before.”
