Bayern Munich 3-2 Wolfsburg: Player ratings as Goretzka fires hosts seven points clear

Two goals from Leon Goretzka helped Bayern Munich to a narrow 3-2 victory over Wolfsburg, leaving the Bavarian giants seven points clear at the top of the table. Bundesliga low hill.

The hosts have seen champions Bayer Leverkusen improve their game in recent weeks, seemingly determined to retain the crown they won last season by remaining unbeaten.

Bayern started the match on the front foot and were rewarded for their efforts in the 20th minute when Goretzka, again favored after a spell out of the team, advanced unopposed into the Wolfsburg penalty area before firing low beyond the reach of Kamil. Will record.

But that joy was short-lived as a sleepy Michael Olise allowed Mohamed Amoura to beat Manuel Neuer four minutes later.

The former Crystal Palace playmaker more than made up for his lack of concentration five minutes before the break, giving Bayern back the lead with more than a handball from Grabara. Olise dodged a couple of attacks outside the Wolfsburg penalty area and his shot should have been easily parried by the Polish goalkeeper. But somehow he let the effort of skimming slip through his fingers and rolled meekly onto the line.

Joshua Kimmich’s third was disallowed by VAR before the break, but it didn’t matter as Bayern extended their lead just after the hour. Olise launched a delightful free kick into the Wolfsburg area, where Goretzka, running and unmarked, guided a header from the inside of Grabara’s post.

Bayern had a total of 25 shots, ten of which were on target, but threatened to undermine their supremacy by allowing Wolfsburg to get back into the game as the embers died down.

Tiago Tomas’ wonderful move, which should actually have been stopped by a Bayern tactical foul, allowed Amouri to pull away from Dayot Upamecano, and he managed another clinical finish past Neuer to set up a grandstand finish.

However, Bayern held on to the match and achieved their 14th victory of the season.
