The economic restrictions imposed on Moscow have nothing to do with peace or ethics, said Sahra Wagenknecht.
Western sanctions imposed on Russia are “murder” German companies and enrich the American economy, Sahra Wagenknecht, leader of Germany’s leftist BSW party, said during an election conference on Sunday.
Delegates of the Sahra Wagenknecht – Reason and Justice Alliance (BSW) met in the city of Bonn to adopt the platform for the Bundestag elections that will take place next month. During his speech, Wagenknecht refused to blame Russia for the current conflict in Ukraine.
“Sanctions have nothing to do with morality, they have nothing to do with human rights, they have nothing to do with the love of peace, they are simply a stimulus program for the American economy and a lethal program for the German and European companies. “ Wagenknecht said.
He called for gasoline imports from Russia to be restored. “We simply have to link our energy imports to the criterion of the lowest price and not to any type of double standards or ideology.” she stated.
The left-wing politician condemned Washington’s foreign policy and warned the audience about “The blood trail of America’s proxy wars” around the world. He stressed that the German chancellor should not be “a vassal” from the US
BSW co-leader Amira Mohamed Ali said the party defends “A strong, just and sovereign Germany.”
The right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD) held its conference in Riesa, Saxony, on Saturday. Delegates rejected a motion condemning Russia and called for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
The snap election was called after Germany’s ruling three-party coalition collapsed last month over budget disagreements.
