Elon Musk used his social network of February.

“I highly recommend that people vote for AfD,” said Musk, general director of tesla and SpaceX, in addition to its role in X, said about half an hour into the conversation. “That is my strong recommendation.”

The AfD has been classified as an “organization suspected of extremism” by German internal intelligence services. The party’s platform calls for tough asylum laws, mass deportations, cuts to social and welfare support in Germany and the repeal of restrictions on combustion engine vehicles.

Thierry Breton, former EU Commissioner for Mercado Inside, said in a Jan. 4 statement publish in X addressed to Weidel: “As a European citizen concerned about the proper use of systemic platforms authorized to operate in the EU… especially to protect our democratic rules against illegal or improper conduct during electoral times, I think it is essential to remind you” that a discussion in vivo on X would give AfD and Weidel “a significant and valuable advantage over their competitors.”

While AfD has amassed around 20% of public support, according to a report by broadcaster DW, the party is unlikely to be part of a coalition government, as most other parties have promised not to work with he.

AfD previously protested the construction of Tesla’s electric vehicle factory outside Berlin, in part because the factory would provide employment to people who were not German citizens.

Musk’s previous endorsements of the AfD, including tweets praising the party and an editorial in a German newspaper, have angered European government officials. Musk, the richest person in the world, has also endorsed far-right and anti-establishment candidates and causes in the United Kingdom.

Political leaders from France, Germany, Norway and the United Kingdom reported his influence, NBC Information previously reported, warning that Musk should not get involved in his countries’ elections.

Musk, who was a major supporter of President-elect Donald Trump in the November election, previously promoted Trump in a livestreamed discussion on X. Before that, he hosted a conversation with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who lost to Trump in the Republican elections. primary.

During Thursday’s talk, Weidel asked Musk what Trump could do to end Russia’s war in Ukraine, as the president-elect has suggested he could quickly do.

Musk objected.

“To be clear, this is up to President Trump, he’s commander and chief, so it’s really up to him,” Musk said. “I don’t want to speak for him, but I think there is a path to a resolution, but it requires strong leadership in the United States to achieve it.”

Musk also weighed in on what he thought should be done in Gaza, which has been under attack by Israel since Hamas’ deadly incursion into Israel on October 7, 2023.

“There is no choice but to eliminate those who wish to eliminate the State of Israel, essentially Hamas,” Musk said. “So the second step is to fix education so that Palestinians are not trained from childhood to hate and want the death of Israel.”

“Then the third thing, which is also very important, is to make the Palestinian areas prosperous.”
