MANILA, Philippines–Phoenix earned its second victory after blowing Terrafirma’s tires, 122-108, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Tuesday night at PhilSports Enviornment in Pasig Metropolis.
Import Donovan Smith had 37 points, seven rebounds and five blocks as the star of the Gas Masters, which improved to 2-5 wins and losses, starting the new year on a promising note after a forgettable conference start.

Jason Perkins, Ricci Rivero, Tyler Tio and Kai Ballungay all finished with double-digit scores in the effort that pushed Dyip further down the standings with their eighth straight loss in as many outings.

Next up for Phoenix is Rain or Shine, which is riding a four-game winning streak. They will fight on January 11.
Terrafirma got 25 points from reinforcement Brandon Edwards and 22 more from Louie Sangalang.

Brent Paraiso, Mark Nonoy and Kemark Cariño each contributed at least 11 in the losing effort that could have needed help from former scoring champion Terrence Romeo, who has yet to take advantage since being traded from San Miguel.
