The BJP on Monday (January 6, 2025) claimed that a CAG report raised 139 questions related to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s former Flagstaff Highway residence and “exposed his “black deeds.”
The AAP had no immediate reaction to the charges.
At a press conference, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the 2022 report cited an expenditure of Rs 33.86 crore on the “Sheesh Mahal”, but the actual cost was much higher.
“This report refers to the expenses up to 2022. There is no disclosure regarding the expenses of 2023 and 2024 and as per our information, the current cost amounts to Rs 75-80 crore if the inventory of the items in the bungalow is included. ”. he stated.
The BJP has intensified its attack on Kejriwal ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, alleging corruption related to bungalow 6, Flagstaff Highway, which he occupied as Chief Minister.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also mocked Kejriwal, saying he built a “Sheesh Mahal” instead of paying attention to Delhi’s public infrastructure.
Mr. Sachdeva charged, “The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has raised 139 questions and has very minutely detailed the black acts of Mr. Kejriwal.” He alleged that the bungalow was rebuilt without the permission of the Delhi Urban Arts Commission and the Delhi Municipal Corporation.
“What message did a Chief Minister give to Delhi by constructing the bungalow in an unauthorized manner?” asked.
“To determine the current cost of the bungalow, it is necessary to check the accounts of public works and other departments,” said Sachdeva.
He also alleged that the public works department, instead of functioning as a government agency for the construction of the bungalow, acted as a “private organization” to please Mr. Kejriwal.
