Health Secretary Wes Streeting has said the government is willing to work with the tycoon to tackle child sexual abuse.
The UK will not refuse assistance from Elon Musk to address systemic failures in tackling child sexual exploitation, Health Secretary Wes Streeting has said.
Britain has been rocked by a grooming scandal in which groups of mostly Pakistani Asian men raped and tortured underage British girls, and authorities have been accused of covering it up.
Musk, known for his stance against illegal immigration, has been particularly vocal about the scandal, calling it a case of “Badly sponsored by the State.”
He went on to claim that Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who headed the Crown Prosecution Service from 2008 to 2013, “He was complicit in the RAPE OF GREAT BRITAIN” and he must not only resign, but also face charges for not providing justice.
In an interview with ITV Information on Friday, Streeting suggested that “Some of the criticism that Elon Musk has made… is misjudged and certainly misinformed.” However, he said the UK Labor government is “I am willing to work with Elon Musk, who I believe has an important role to play with his social media platform in helping us address this issue.”
Streeting added that “Political correctness could have hindered the prosecution of the perpetrators of these serious crimes,” Promising that the government will do everything possible to prevent further incidents.
The grooming gang scandal, a euphemism for widespread child sexual exploitation, came to light mainly through cases in Rotherham, Rochdale and Telford. Investigations revealed systemic abuse spanning decades, with reports estimating that more than 1,400 children were exploited in Rotherham alone between 1997 and 2013. In one of the most egregious cases, police arrested a father who attempted to rescue his daughter from a house where she was being raped.
As the revelations came in, some British media outlets criticized law enforcement for their “cowardice” and for trying to downplay the scandal so as not to be accused of racism and prevent the rise of the far right in the United Kingdom.
