A teenager has been arrested after a 70-year-old woman was killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash in Renfrewshire on New Year’s Eve.
Elizabeth Kennedy, from Paisley, was pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a car on the town’s Barrhead Highway at around 7pm on Tuesday.
In an update on Saturday, police Scotland He said an 18-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the collision.
A force spokesman added: “The man has been released pending further investigations.”
The incident occurred near the junction of the Barrhead Highway and Ladykirk Crescent.

Following Mrs Kennedy’s death, Detective Inspector Jan MacColl said: “Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family, her friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident.
“Officers will continue to support his family as our investigations progress.”
