Mohamed Salah: “It’s my last year at Liverpool”

Mohamed Salah has once again insisted that he is in his “last year” at Liverpool, highlighting his desire to mark the occasion by lifting the Premier League title.

Salah has entered the final six months of his contract and has not shied away from publicly putting pressure on Liverpool. The Egypt international claimed in November that he was “more out than in” and later insisted he was playing his “last game” against Manchester Metropolis at Anfield.

Now, in the final six months of his current contract, Salah is free to negotiate a contract with clubs abroad. The 32-year-old man stated in an interview with Sky Sports News that his goal is to win the title with Liverpool, but admitted his desire stems from the fact that his time with the Reds is coming to an end.

“In my interviews over the last seven or eight years, I always say (I want to win the) Champions League. But this is the first time I say that I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool,” he began.

When asked to explain why national success was more important to him now, Salah replied: “I have no idea. “It’s probably because we didn’t celebrate the game we won like we wanted to and also, coming back here, it’s my last year at the club, so you want to do something special for the city.”

The seriousness of Salah’s comments was soon revealed when the Egyptian was asked if he really believes this is his last year with Liverpool.

“So far, yes,” Salah said. “It’s the last six months.

“There is no progress there. We are very far from any progress. So we just have to wait and see.”

“What’s on my mind is, if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say you were worried or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say, Did I have an amazing season? That’s what I have in my head.

“If I ever feel distracted, I just remind myself to look back and say I had an amazing season. That’s what I want to do.”
