I can’t tell you how many times I have recommended a great Apple TV+ showand the person I’m talking to responds with “I don’t have a AppleTV+ subscription.” It happens all the time, which is a real shame since I really think some of the best television series right now live there. However, now this problem is temporarily alleviated, because the streamer is free this weekend, January 3-5! So, with that in mind, here are the three shows that I, someone who has watched a lot of projects on this streamer, think you should enjoy this weekend.
Now, before we get into these three programs, it is worth mentioning that there is a TON of excellent collections on Apple TV+, such as Ted Lasso and slow horses. However, considering that you only have a little more than two days to watch free And both projects are very popular, I chose titles that are newer and have fewer episodes so you can use your time efficiently.
Contraction
Notably, Ted Lasso It’s not on this list because I imagine many have already used a Apple TV+ free trial or bought a subscription for about a month to watch it. However, if you’re looking for the same kind of heartfelt comedy, Contraction It’s the show for you.
Created by Ted Lasso co-creator Invoice Lawrence, actor Roy Kent Brett Goldstein and how I Met Your Mother Jason Segel, this series was my favorite show of 2024. It follows Segel’s character, Jimmy, after the death of his wife as he overcomes his grief while working as a therapist. While it sounds depressing, believe me, this show is hilarious.
Also starring Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller and more, this is a packed ensemble that is firing on all cylinders as they perform this fun and moving story about therapy, family and wellness. Honestly, it’s a great show that almost everyone should enjoy, and you can stream the entire first two seasons right now.
bad sisters
Now, if you’re looking for a little mystery, bad sisters It’s what you should spend your time looking at.
This show set in Ireland follows the Garvey sisters after the death of one of their loved ones. However, there is a twist, because instead of the detectives investigating the case in season 1, his life insurance agents, and like them, we, the audience, have no idea who actually committed the murder. Then things get even crazier when there’s another death in season 2!
Overall, this series is a hilarious black comedy and clever mystery that is also extremely chaotic and super fun. So while it’s free, you should check it out, because both seasons are fully available.
Rupture
The timing couldn’t be better in the case of Rupture and this deal. That’s because season 2 of this absolutely bonkers workplace thriller is set to premiere on TV schedule 2025 on January 17 and this weekend allows you to catch up on season 1 and see if you want to continue on this wild ride.
Rupture follows Adam Scott’s Mark as he opts for a procedure that severs his brain and makes his work and family lives literally separate. As you can probably imagine, there are a lot of problems that come with a procedure like that, and this drama from creator Dan Erikson and producer/director Ben Stiller dives into all of them.
So if you want to jump into the crazy world of Lumon Industries before Rupture Season 2 premieres, now is the perfect time to do it.
I honestly feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface of shows worth watching on Apple TV+. Silo and Presumed Innocent They are also great, for example. However, we only have one weekend of free streaming here and you should use your time wisely. And I think you should spend that time looking at one, two, or all three of the projects I’ve mentioned here. I can almost guarantee you won’t regret it.
