Hansi Flick has admitted that “he is not happy” with the fact that Barcelona has not obtained the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, but he supported the club to find a positive solution soon.
Both were removed from La Liga’s website after their temporary registrations expired on December 31, and Barcelona was unable to raise the funds necessary to re-register them before the deadline.
League rules state that a player cannot re-register once his initial contract expires, meaning Barcelona have been forced to appeal to the Spanish Football Federation and are also reportedly preparing another appearance before a judge.
“I don’t want to talk too much about this because it’s not my job,” Flick told the media. “My job is to prepare for the game.
“I was in contact with the president at Christmas and also today. I have the confidence of the club that they have done their job, as I have done mine.
“To be honest, I’m not happy with the situation. The players are not happy either, but we have to accept that we are professionals. “I am optimistic, but we have to wait for the decision.”
Reports emerged on Friday suggesting that Barcelona could sell centre-back Eric García to Girona to help them register Olmo and Víctor, but Flick played down the idea of a departure for the defender.
“I don’t think he’s going away, but I don’t know what will happen,” Flick said. “For us he is a good player.
“He has had some injuries, but he is a very intelligent player and a player we really like. “We are not thinking about that.”
Like Flick, Olmo’s agent has also backed Barcelona to resolve this situation soon and club officials are reportedly confident of sealing registrations for the couple soon.
