WASHINGTON: Elon Musk adopted the nickname “Kekius Maximo” on Tuesday extreme right symbol, a memecoinand the main character of the movie “Gladiator.” Musk, the CEO of tesla and SpaceX and confidant of US President-elect Donald Trump also replaced his profile photo with one of “pepe the frog“, an in-style caricature, dressed in ancient Roman attire and holding a video game joystick.
In typical Musk fashion, the billionaire tech mogul and owner of digital currency inspired by a web meme, with the same name that is going off. The value of Memecoin Kekius Maximus skyrocketed more than 900% as of Tuesday evening. It was not immediately clear if he has any stake in memecoin.
He also sent Web sleuths searching for answers: Was it just for laughs? Or was there a hidden message? His new nickname appears to be a mix of “Maximus Decimus Meridius” – a common Roman played by Russell Crowe in the 2000 smash hit “Gladiator” – and “kek”, in style among far-right trolls which is used as a variation of “HAHAHA”. “Kek” is also a reference to a “white nationalist digital god.” Additionally, “Pepe the Frog” was associated with white supremacists and far-right extremists during Trump’s first presidential campaign.
