Chad Duell reflects on his normal hospital leaving after 14 years and explaining why he decided to move away from ABC foam.

In a new interview, the actor spoke about why he decided to leave the soap opera.

“It’s a life adjustment,” Duell said during a recent appearance on the daily drama Podcast with Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson. “A lot has been happening in my life. There are a few things behind it, but one thing I did say is that my father passed away and I’m still coming to terms with it.”

Duell also noted that he wanted to spend more time with his partner and son, adding: “I’m preparing for the next chapter. “Right now, I’m just trying to grow in a way where maybe I feel like I’m stifled in certain ways and sometimes you need to take drastic measures or be uncomfortable and that’s not what I’ve done in a long time.”

The actor said he left the door open to possibly return in the future, but Duell says he has “some things planned” for him, adding, “It’s different because I have a son now. But also for him and for me and for everyone, doing what’s best for me (spiritually, mentally, everything) will only reflect my energy in a better way to everyone around me, and I want to make sure I take good care of myself, which isn’t always I have done.”

It was in November when Duell announced his departure normal hospitalsaying in a statement on Instagram: “After many incredible years at Normal Hospital, I have decided to step away from the program. This was not an easy decision for me, but I feel like it is the right time in my life. “I am beyond grateful to Frank Valentini, the cast, crew and everyone behind the scenes, who have been like family to me during this incredible journey.”
