Marcel Taret, Paulette’s husband, was the sole caregiver for the elderly woman who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.

Podcaster Mr Ballen said in explaining the case that Marcel had a full-time job caring for his wife.

He explained: “Paulette needed help remembering to eat or take her medications on time.

“Sometimes she would just walk away without telling Marcel and he would have to go round her up and bring her back home.”

The doting husband had his back turned to Paulette for just a few minutes while hanging clothes in the garden of their home in Andenne, Belgium, on November 2, 2020.

But she was never seen alive again.

Before going out to the garden, Marcel said he had prepared his wife in front of the television for lunch.

Therefore, he figured that she would still be watching her favorite show when he finished hanging the laundry.

But, to his surprise, when he went to check on her, she wasn’t there.

Marcel went from room to room looking for Paulette.

He also desperately searched outside the house, even touching some neighbors‘ doors to ask if they had seen her, with no luck.

Panicking, Marcel called the police, who launched a search and rescue mission using a helicopter over the area to find her, but to no avail.

Despite continued search efforts, Paulette was not found for two years.

And during this time, Marcel had resigned himself to the fact that he probably never would have known what happened to his wife.

But at the same time Paulette disappeared, a Google Streetview car miraculously drove by the couple’s home.

In 2022, one of Marcel’s neighbors noticed the Streetview images on the road and consequently found the final image of Paulette.

She is captured crossing the street away from her house while Marcel stands in the background, hanging up the laundry.

Using the incredible new clue, cops were able to trace the path Paulette appeared to be taking in the photo.

Across the street was a steep hill leading into a thick bramble.

This is where Paulette’s body was tragically found.

When the search was underway, it is believed that she became trapped there and died.

This isn’t the first time Google Maps has helped point police officers in the right direction.

A couple were arrested on suspicion of murder after police investigating a mysterious disappearance found the image and also found human remains.

The detainees are the wife of the Cuban whose remains were discovered last week in a Spanish cemetery more than a year after his disappearance and his former lover.

The Google image and court-ordered wiretaps have been described as “decisive” by the local press that covered the gruesome discovery in the small town of Andaluz, in the province of Soria, in northern Spain.

The police admitted yesterday that the sinister image was one of the clues they worked with to “solve the crime.”
